The square and its neighboring side streets are some of Athens most sophisticated and high end. Many tourists overlook their attention by focusing in on the Plaka, the Acropolis and the area around Monastriaki.
The square is named after a small ancient column or kolonaki found in the area. Athen’s amazing cafe life is on full display here – with intellectuals and the older crowd taking over certain spots and the younger generations sipped their ice coffees across the pavement.
