Once the home of Greece’s King and Queen, the City of Athens Museum building dates from 1832 when it was part of the Old Palace. The palace was restored in 19809 as a museum dedicated royal memorabilia, portraits, furniture and much more . Notable exhibits include the 1843 constitution, Nikolaos Gyzis’s oil painting The Carnival of Athens. While Greece no longer is a monarchy, there remains an interest in royalist traditions and history.
